OncoStrong
Have you finished cancer treatment and want to maintain your fitness? It is important to work with a trainer that has specific experience working with cancer patients. A Cancer Exercise Specialist has an understanding of the treatments you completed and knows how to modify exercises based on these. These sessions are focused on general strength, endurance, and balance to help you improve and/or maintain your quality of life.

Are you concerned about or experiencing upper extremity or breast lymphedema or swelling? Lymphatic massage sessions focus on assessment, massage, and education to help decrease severity and impact on your life. Lymphedema commonly gives signs before it is visibly noticeable. If you notice any heaviness, fullness, or general aching in the arm or breast that is not muscle soreness it is best to get assessed by a lymphedema therapist.
Lymphedema massage has also been shown to help with breastfeeding if you are noticing engorgement and the infant is having a hard time removing milk.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy can be an important part of caring for your body—not simply a luxury. It may help reduce muscle tension, support recovery, promote relaxation, and improve your overall sense of well-being.
At Athena Wellness & Physical Therapy, Dr. Kate Hovde brings a unique perspective as both a licensed massage therapist and women’s health physical therapist. Her understanding of anatomy, movement, pain science, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and women’s health allows each session to be thoughtfully tailored to your needs and goals.
Whether you are pregnant, postpartum, recovering from cancer treatment, managing stress or muscle tension, training for an athletic event, or simply prioritizing your health, Kate will create a personalized experience designed to help you feel more comfortable, connected, and confident in your body.
